The case for legalizing pedestrians

It is not unusual to see someone walking or riding their wheelchair in the street. Why would anyone do that? Lack of sidewalks. I’ve seen this problem all over Texas and I’m glad to see it getting some coverage in the Dallas Morning News (“DFW roads can be dangerous for pedestrians“). If you have ever tried to walk back from a Rangers baseball game you know that Arlington’s sidewalks appear and disappear. The area between the Ballpark and Six Flags Over Texas isn’t a low traffic area and should be a place where visitors can walk without slogging through the grass or venturing out into the road.

Maybe Texas can not afford mass transit. Sidewalks, on the other hand, don’t seem like a luxury.
